Best friends Grace and Miranda, good Catholic girls of a certain age, find themselves at odds with their ‘saintly’ husbands after decades of marriage. Grace plots an escape from her well-meaning but overbearing husband, while Miranda struggles with a spike in libido and a disinterested spouse. But Fulton and Sal, former seminary classmates, have their own devils to deal with Fulton fights his attraction to a flighty younger woman and his own (unfounded) fears that Grace is developing dementia; while Sal contends with ‘performance issues’ and the sudden appearance of Miranda’s ‘starter’ husband, a man he didn’t even know existed. At stake are two marriages and four distinct friendships, and the tools at hand include humor, enduring love, a little faith and lots of chocolate. This novel contains some (mild) adult scenes, a bit of snarkiness and the occasional profanity Definitely for mature (but experienced) readers!

I may not have read this book if I'd known there were a few F-bombs and a little sexual content; I keep my reading fairly G-rated. Still, I laughed out loud reading the first chapter and just kept going. Very well-written despite a few typos. If there was a deep message, I missed it but it was VERY entertaining and I even recommended it on social media, which I almost never do. A really good book.Product details

Wives of the Saints Kathy Cecala 9781540586919 Books Reviews
Unexpectedly wonderful.
“There’s hope, Fulton. For all of us"
This is the story of two couples, friends for decades, now facing being elders, with all that goes with it physically, emotionally and spiritually. It is raw and honest. Grace and Miranda married Sam and Fulton decades earlier, and now the past is catching up with them, regrets and all. The resolution is hopeful and extremely up to date. Another great read.
I have to say, this is one of those books that you open, and next time you look up, your 3/4 the way through, and when you are done, you feel like you are saying goodbyes to new friends.
As a woman of a certain age, this book spoke to me in many ways. The secrets the main characters kept - when exposed - revealed more secrets as the story unfolded. I loved these women and the couples and how the 'naked truth' set them free.
2 married couples, in their 50's seem to be coexisting in a mutual Catholic funk. I found it interesting to see the couples struggling with religion & real life. But the book was a quick read & funny.
Interesting look at two Catholic marriages, and great characters fleshed out as the story progresses. Need some editing towards the end.
Highly original and quite entertaining! Unusual elements of real life all stirred together in a big, heavy pot. Some might find parts of it slightly risqué so be prepared to hide your eyes if you're the prudish type. Oh, and the fudge recipe---yes, I can't wait to make it!
Lately I have been reading lots of gory murder mysteries and realized they were starting to depress me!! I wanted something lighter. This book filled the bill, but also had some valuable life lessons about family, love and marriage.
I may not have read this book if I'd known there were a few F-bombs and a little sexual content; I keep my reading fairly G-rated. Still, I laughed out loud reading the first chapter and just kept going. Very well-written despite a few typos.
